EXECUTIVE EDITOR

We Are One Humanity (WAOH) is very happy to announce that Faisal Lalani of New York City has been appointed executive editor of WAOH's website. His bio is below.

From January 6, 2025, Faisal Lalani joins us on the editorial board following a search-and-interview process where several gifted and capable candidates were interviewed. We thank all who were interviewed, and all who had applied, and look forward to their continuing interest.

FAISAL LALANI

Faisal M. Lalani is a global community organiser with a background in research, activism, writing, technology, and policy. He has worked all over the world, studying progressive pedagogies in rural Nepal, building community wireless networks in townships around South Africa, and analysing social media patterns of politicians during major elections in India with Microsoft Research. Lalani also partnered with US state governments to manage COVID-19 contact tracing through Dimagi, consulted with high-profile companies throughout the country on data governance with Snowflake, and worked in Sri Lanka and the APAC region at large organising civil society, journalists, lawyers, and Big Tech to form civil society coalitions for digital rights.

Lalani has also led national education reform efforts in the US with the Aga Khan Education Board, partners with clinical psychologists throughout Europe on identity and dissociation research, and collaborates with a number of think tanks and research labs working on tech and democracy challenges (including New America, the Global Center on AI Governance, and the University of Toronto’s Third Space Lab).

He is a graduate from the University of Oxford's Media Policy Summer Institute and holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
